Most thermal management systems today require multiple parts, tedious plumbing and wiring, and usually require two different systems for battery and in-cabin thermal management. Hypercraft’s ThermalBox™ solves these problems by providing an all-in-one, easy to integrate heating and cooling solution for both the vehicle’s cabin and energy storage system (ESS), ensuring that you and your EV operate comfortably and at peak performance in all conditions.

 

THERMALBOX PROVIDES SIMPLICITY

The ThermalBox simplifies a complex but vital system by offering a compact, plug-and-play package that minimizes thermal routing. Designed with pre-configured wiring and industry-standard connectors, it makes installation quick and hassle-free. Housing two independent thermal loops for ESS and cabin temperature control, monitoring and automatically adjusting battery temperatures in real-time.

 

Plug-and-Play: Thermal Box is designed for easy installation. Built with Amphenol and TE electrical connectors, pre-configured wiring, and o-ring refrigerant fittings in industry standard sizes, for ease of integration into your EV build.

Robustly built with solid mounting points, Thermal BoxTM is designed to mount in multiple orientations, in order to fit many different applications.

Constructed of aluminum for lightweight packaging and efficient heat dissipation.

Featuring Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) self-regulating, High Voltage electric heaters for safe and efficient ESS heating and provides instant / on demand cabin heating.

Built-in safety features including:

  • Automatic system shutdown in the event of overheating.
  • Leak Detection: System can self detect coolant leaks and alert the user.
  • Failsafe Modes: Predefined modes to ensure the EV remains operational in the event of a non critical component fault or failure.

Thermal Box includes temperature and pressure sensors for the real-time monitoring of both the ESS thermal system and cabin heating loop.

Electronic Control Unit (ECU): Centralized control automatically switches between heating and cooling modes based on real-time data inputs, including cell temperature, ambient temperature and WEG loop temperatures ensuring optimal performance without user intervention.

Thermal BoxTM ensures that the EV operates within the system’s optimal temperature ranges, enhancing performance, safety, and battery life while providing a user-friendly and efficient solution for temperature management.

All these capabilities have been brought together in one small device, Hypercraft’s Thermal Box, the perfect solution to simplify and tidy-up much of the plumbing in your EV build into one compact, elegant and stylish package.

Install a Tesla Model S or Model X “P” (P90D, P100D) Large Drive Unit (LDU) in any vehicle and achieve complete control with AEM EV’s LDU Inverter Control Board (ICB, PN 30-8402) and an AEM Vehicle Control Unit! This system provides full control of the LDU for programming torque curves, torque limits, regenerative braking, accelerator pedal response, drive-mode switches, and much more. The Tesla LDU currently comes in two versions, Base and Sport.

AEM EV’s Tesla Inverter Control Board acts as a VCU expansion device that replaces the stock Tesla ICB. Once connected to an AEM VCU using the supplied communications harness, calibrators can program propulsion strategies and characterize inputs through the VCU using AEMcal software. AEM EV’s LDU ICB was co-developed with Cascadia Motion, an industry leader in EV propulsion systems, to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability.

NOTE: The Inverter Control Board must be used with an AEM Vehicle Control Unit for programming and controlling a Tesla LDU. This system is designed for conversion and motorsports vehicles with Tesla LDU swaps. It will not control a Tesla LDU in a Tesla OE chassis

AEM EV Vehicle Control Units (VCUs) are the missing link for high-performance EV street-conversion and motorsports applications. They allow the calibrator to create customized torque management strategies applicable to a wide range of EV systems and component combinations. They integrate EV systems and unify the tuning experience providing motorsports- and conversion-ready features presented in a high feature, modern and customizable interface. AEM EV’s VCU300 is built on OEM hardware and features OEM quality strategies. Combined, these provide the highest level of reliability, and more importantly, safety for both the programmer and end-user.

The VCU300 can manage up to four inverter/motor systems, communicate with three independent CAN bus networks, and it can be used on direct-drive and indirect-drive EV setups. Please refer to the Supported Applications Tab for supported Motors, Inverters Battery Management Systems (BMS) and other EV devices.

Primary functions of the AEM VCU300 include:
  • Input characterization including accelerator pedal, brake switch, PRND switches, and other driver/vehicle inputs
  • Redundancy and arbitration features for all safety-critical inputs
  • Startup and shutdown sequencing of high voltage components, including independent contactor control for each inverter system
  • CAN message translation for BMS, inverter, PDUs, and other CAN accessories
  • Motor torque management dependent on vehicle operating states and other driver-selectable modes
